LARGE-TICKET PROJECTS
Capital equipment financing and leasing
A production line, an imaging suite or a fleet replacement is a capital project, not an equipment purchase, and it needs a lender that funds progress payments to the builder, holds a master line for the additions and structures the term around the asset's life. American Capital Group has funded these projects directly since 1995, and the same one-page application starts the conversation.
What we finance
New or used, from any vendor, dealer or auction. Named manufacturers are examples of what this covers, not a limit — if what you need is not on this list, ask.
- Production lines, automation cells and robotic systems
- CNC machining centres, presses and fabrication cells
- MRI, CT and imaging suites with room build-outs
- Fleet replacements — trucks, trailers and yellow iron
- Plant expansions, packaging lines and process equipment
- Data centres, servers and enterprise IT refreshes
- Printing presses, converting and finishing lines
- Food processing, brewery and bottling plants
- Build-to-order equipment with progress payments during manufacture
- Master lease lines drawn per delivery
- Sale-leaseback of equipment already owned
- Refinancing of existing equipment debt
Why lease it
01
Progress payments during the build
Long-lead equipment is paid in stages: deposit, milestones, delivery. We fund each progress payment to the builder and roll them into one lease that starts when the equipment ships, so the deposit is not tied up in cash for a year.
02
One line, many deliveries
A project delivered in phases is set up as a master lease with a schedule per delivery. Each phase gets its own term and start date, and the credit approval is done once.
03
Structure to the asset, not the calendar
A press with a twenty-year life should not be on a three-year note. Terms, end-of-term options and payment shapes are set to the asset's life and the project's cash flow, and a sale-leaseback can free the equity in equipment already owned.

Questions CFOs ask before financing a capital project
What is capital equipment financing?
Capital equipment financing funds the large, long-lived assets a business buys as a project: production lines, machine cells, imaging suites, fleets and plant expansions. American Capital Group funds them directly, with progress payments during the build, master lease lines for phased deliveries and terms matched to the asset's life.
Can progress payments to the manufacturer be financed?
Yes. For build-to-order equipment we fund the deposit and the milestone payments to the manufacturer during the build, then roll them into one lease that begins when the equipment is delivered and accepted, so the down payments do not come out of working capital.
What is a sale-leaseback on equipment?
A sale-leaseback sells equipment the business already owns to the lessor and leases it back on a monthly payment, which releases the equity in the equipment as cash while the business keeps using it. It is often used alongside a new project to fund the working capital the project needs.
Do large capital equipment transactions need financial statements?
Transactions up to $150,000 are usually approved on an application alone. Larger capital projects are reviewed with financial statements and a description of the project, which lets us set the structure, the term and the progress funding to the project rather than to a formula.
