CAR WASH EQUIPMENT
Car wash equipment financing and leasing
A car wash is a building full of equipment, and the equipment is most of the cost. A tunnel package with a conveyor, arches, dryers and a pay station is a seven-figure line on the opening budget, and an in-bay automatic at a gas station is a large one. Financing the equipment separately from the real estate is how most washes get built.
What we finance
New or used, from any vendor, dealer or auction. Named manufacturers are examples of what this covers, not a limit — if what you need is not on this list, ask.
- Express tunnel packages — Sonny's, MacNeil, AVW, Motor City Wash Works, Belanger
- Conveyors, correlators, mitters, wraps and top brushes
- Chemical arches, foam applicators and chemical delivery systems
- Blower dryers, contour dryers and drying agents
- In-bay automatics — PDQ LaserWash, WashTec, Ryko, Belanger Kondor, touchless and soft-touch
- Self-serve bay equipment, booms, wands and meter boxes
- Water reclaim, reverse osmosis spot-free and water softening
- Pay stations, gates, license plate readers and membership systems — DRB, Sonny's Controls, Hamilton
- Central and free-standing vacuums — Vacutech, JE Adams
- Backroom equipment: pumps, compressors, boilers and controls
- Signage, lighting, LED arch lighting and canopies
- Equipment refreshes and conversions of existing washes
Why lease it
01
Keep the real estate loan for the real estate
A car wash lender sizes the mortgage on the land and the building. Financing the tunnel equipment on a separate lease keeps the equipment out of the mortgage, matches its term to its useful life and leaves the owner's cash for the site work and the opening.
02
Refresh the tunnel on the membership cycle
Express washes compete on the equipment the customer sees. A fair market value lease with a five to seven year term lets an operator return the dryers and arches at the end of the term and refit the tunnel without an outright purchase.
03
Deduct the equipment the year the wash opens
Car wash equipment is Section 179 property, separate from the building. Buy on a $1 buyout lease or an equipment finance agreement and the whole equipment package can be expensed in the year the wash opens, subject to your own tax position and your CPA's advice.

Questions operators ask before financing car wash equipment
Can I finance the equipment for a new car wash?
Yes. Car wash equipment financing from American Capital Group covers tunnel conveyor packages, in-bay automatics, self-serve bays, dryers, water reclaim, pay stations and vacuums from Sonny's, MacNeil, AVW, Belanger, PDQ, WashTec and Ryko for new express washes, gas station washes and dealership washes. Smaller in-bay and self-serve packages are approved on an application alone, with no financial statements up to $150,000, and full tunnel packages are quoted on a short financial package.
How much does it cost to lease car wash equipment?
The payment depends on the equipment package, the term and the end of term option you choose. A single in-bay automatic on a five year lease is a very different agreement from a 120 foot express tunnel with reclaim and pay stations on seven years, so send the manufacturer's quote through the form on this page and we return real numbers, usually the same business day.
Can I finance an in-bay automatic for a gas station or a dealership?
Yes. In-bay automatics from PDQ, WashTec, Ryko and Belanger, with the pay station, dryer and water treatment that go with them, qualify for a gas station, a convenience store, a dealership or a fleet yard, and most are approved on the application alone.
Can I finance a refresh of an existing tunnel?
Yes. Replacing the dryers, the arches, the pay stations or the vacuums on an operating wash qualifies the same way a new package does, and the wash's own operating history is the underwriting. We pay the manufacturer or the installer directly once the equipment is installed and the agreement is signed.
