ROBOTS & AUTOMATION
Industrial robot and cobot financing and leasing
A robot is hired the way a second shift is: to run the work the shop cannot find people for. A cobot welding cell, a palletizer or a machine-tending arm runs nights and weekends without overtime, and the payback is measured in months. Financing the cell puts the robot on the floor now and lets those months pay for it.
What we finance
New or used, from any vendor, dealer or auction. Named manufacturers are examples of what this covers, not a limit — if what you need is not on this list, ask.
- Collaborative robots — Universal Robots UR5e to UR30, FANUC CRX, ABB GoFa, KUKA LBR iisy, Doosan, Yaskawa HC
- Industrial six-axis arms — FANUC R-2000 and M-20, ABB IRB, KUKA KR, Yaskawa Motoman GP
- Cobot welding cells — Lincoln Cooper, Miller Copilot, Vectis, Hirebotics Beacon, ESAB
- Robotic palletizing cells and case packers
- CNC machine tending cells and bin picking
- SCARA and delta robots for assembly and packaging
- Autonomous mobile robots — MiR, OTTO, Locus, for material handling
- End-of-arm tooling — OnRobot, Schunk, Robotiq grippers and tool changers
- Vision systems, force sensing and safety scanners
- Integration, programming, fencing and commissioning
- Robotic deburring, grinding, polishing and dispensing cells
- Automation retrofits for existing presses, lathes and mills
Why lease it
01
A robot that pays for itself on the shift it adds
A cobot cell that runs a second shift earns the margin on every part it makes. A three to five year lease keeps the monthly payment below the labour a shift would cost, and the cell keeps earning long after the lease ends.
02
Finance the cell, not just the arm
The arm is a third of the cost of a working cell. The tooling, the vision, the fencing, the integrator's programming and the commissioning can all share one lease, so the cell is financed as the working unit the integrator delivers.
03
Deduct the automation the year it runs
Robots, cobots, tooling and integration are Section 179 property. Buy on a $1 buyout lease or an equipment finance agreement and the whole cell can be expensed in the year it goes into service, subject to your own tax position and your CPA's advice.

Questions manufacturers ask before financing a robot
Can I finance a cobot or an industrial robot for a machine shop?
Yes. Industrial robot financing from American Capital Group covers Universal Robots, FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa and Doosan cobots and industrial arms, cobot welding cells, palletizers, machine-tending cells, mobile robots and the tooling, vision and integration that make them a working cell, for machine shops, fabricators, packagers, food processors and warehouses. Most cells are approved on an application alone, with no financial statements up to $150,000, and larger automation projects are quoted on a short financial package.
How much does it cost to lease a robotic welding cell?
The payment depends on the cell, the term and the end of term option you choose. A single cobot arm with a gripper on a three year lease is a very different agreement from a two-station welding cell with a positioner and fume extraction on five years, so send the integrator's quote through the form on this page and we return real numbers, usually the same business day.
Can I finance the integrator's work along with the robot?
Yes. The integration, programming, fixturing, safety fencing and commissioning can share the lease with the robot and the tooling, so the cell is financed as one working unit rather than a hardware invoice and a services invoice. We pay the integrator directly once the cell is commissioned and the agreement is signed.
Can a small shop with no automation experience get robot financing?
Yes. A small machine shop or fabricator adding its first cobot qualifies on the same application as any other equipment, and the cell's payback is part of what we look at. We fund first robots for small manufacturers regularly.
Know what you need?
An application takes a few minutes and most decisions come back the same day. If you would rather see a payment first, the calculator gives you a range without asking for anything.
