POINT OF SALE SYSTEMS
POS system financing and leasing
A point of sale system is the one piece of equipment every sale in the building passes through. Terminals, kitchen screens, kiosks, handhelds and the network behind them are bought per location, and a multi-unit rollout multiplies the bill by every store. Financing spreads the hardware, the software and the installation over a monthly payment.

Why lease it
01
The system is paid for as it rings sales
A POS system is used on every transaction from the day it is switched on. A lease with a fixed monthly payment over three to five years sets its cost against those sales, and keeps opening cash for inventory, payroll and the build-out.
02
Hardware, software and installation on one agreement
The terminals are only part of the invoice. Software licenses, installation, cabling, menu programming and training can be financed with the hardware, so the payment covers a working system rather than a stack of boxes.
03
Upgrade on schedule, not when it fails
POS hardware ages quickly and payment security requirements change underneath it, so a term can be set to the system's useful life. POS equipment is Section 179 property. Buy on a $1 buyout lease or an equipment finance agreement and it can be expensed in the year it goes into service, subject to your own tax position and your CPA's advice.

Questions owners ask before financing a POS system
Can I finance a POS system for a restaurant or a store?
Yes. POS system financing from American Capital Group covers terminals, kitchen display systems, self-order kiosks, handhelds, printers, scanners, payment terminals, networking, software and installation, new or refurbished, for restaurants, bars, franchise operators, grocery and convenience stores and retailers. Most systems are approved on an application alone, with no financial statements up to $150,000, and multi-location rollouts are quoted on a short financial package.
How much does it cost to lease a POS system?
The payment depends on the system, the number of terminals, the term and the end of term option you choose. Four terminals and a kitchen screen on a three year lease is a very different agreement from kiosks, handhelds and a drive-thru across ten locations over five years, so send the reseller's quote through the form on this page and we return real numbers, usually the same business day. Financing starts at $10,000 of equipment.
Can software and installation be financed with the hardware?
Yes. Software licenses, installation, cabling, programming and training can be included on the same agreement as the hardware, so one monthly payment covers the working system. We pay the reseller directly once the agreement is signed.
Can a new restaurant finance its POS system before it opens?
Yes. An owner opening a new restaurant or store with a signed lease on the location can finance the POS system against personal credit and experience in the business. We fund start-up owners regularly, and the first payment can be set after the system is installed and the doors are open.
Can I finance a Toast or Square POS system?
Yes. American Capital Group finances Toast, Square, Clover, Lightspeed, SpotOn and other restaurant POS hardware together with handhelds, kiosks, kitchen display systems and the network that runs them. Most restaurant technology purchases are approved on an application alone, with no financial statements up to $150,000.
Can self-order kiosks and tabletop tablets be leased?
Yes. Self-order kiosks from GRUBBRR, Bite, Toast and Square, and tabletop ordering tablets such as Ziosk and Presto, are financed on the same lease as the POS. Kiosks in particular are usually leased rather than bought because the hardware refreshes on a short cycle.
