THERMAL IMAGING
Thermal imaging camera financing and leasing
A thermal camera finds the loose connection before it starts a fire, the wet insulation before the roof fails and the bearing before the line stops. Inspectors, electricians, roofers and maintenance teams bill for that. Finance the camera, the drone and the reporting software on a monthly payment and start charging for surveys this month.

Why lease it
01
Bill for the survey the first week
An electrical survey, a roof moisture scan or a solar farm inspection is a line-item invoice. A high-resolution camera financed over three years costs less per month than one survey, so the payment is covered by the first job of the month.
02
Resolution is the whole product
A 640x480 imager with a telephoto lens finds faults a 160x120 camera cannot, and clients pay for the report that finds them. Financing lets you buy the camera the work needs rather than the one the cash allows.
03
Drone, camera and software together
The thermal drone, the handheld imager, the reporting software and the certification course are one lease. Software and training are soft costs and go on the same agreement as the hardware.

Questions inspectors ask before financing a thermal camera
Can I finance a FLIR thermal camera?
Yes. American Capital Group finances Teledyne FLIR T-series, E-series and Exx cameras, Fluke Ti and TiX imagers, Hikmicro, Testo and other thermal cameras, on their own or with a thermal drone and reporting software. Most purchases are approved on an application alone, with no financial statements up to $150,000.
Can a thermal drone be leased with the camera?
Yes. DJI Matrice 30T, Mavic 3T, Zenmuse H30T and other thermal drone platforms are financed with the handheld camera, the batteries, the controller and the software on one lease, which is how most roofing, solar and utility inspection companies set up.
Is thermal imaging equipment Section 179 property?
Yes. Thermal cameras, drones and the computers that run the reporting software are tangible business equipment. Bought on a $1 buyout lease or an equipment finance agreement, the whole purchase can usually be expensed in the year it goes into service, subject to your CPA's advice.
Can a home inspector or electrician with a new business qualify?
Usually, yes. A sole-proprietor inspector or electrical contractor is reviewed on personal credit, time in business and the equipment. Thermal cameras hold their value, which helps a newer business get approved, and the decision normally comes within one business day.
