FILM & VIDEO PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT

Film and video production equipment financing and leasing

A production company is hired for its crew and its kit. A cinema camera body is only the start: the lens set, the lighting, the grip, the monitoring and the audio package cost more than the camera, and renting them job after job hands the margin to the rental house. Financing lets a company own the package it uses every week and pay for it out of the shoots it books.

What we finance

New or used, from any vendor, dealer or auction. Named manufacturers are examples of what this covers, not a limit — if what you need is not on this list, ask.

  • Cinema cameras — ARRI ALEXA 35, RED V-RAPTOR and KOMODO, Sony VENICE 2, BURANO and FX6
  • Canon Cinema EOS and Blackmagic URSA and PYXIS bodies
  • Cine lens sets — ZEISS Supreme and CP.3, Cooke, ARRI Signature, Sigma Cine, DZOFilm
  • LED lighting — ARRI SkyPanel, Aputure, Creamsource, Nanlux, Astera tubes
  • Grip and support — dollies, sliders, jibs, stands, flags and rigging
  • Gimbals and stabilizers — DJI Ronin 2 and RS 4 Pro, Freefly MoVI, Steadicam, Easyrig
  • Wireless video, monitors and follow focus — Teradek, SmallHD, Atomos, Tilta, ARRI Hi-5
  • Location audio — Sound Devices recorders, Sennheiser and Lectrosonics wireless, boom kits
  • Drones for aerial work — DJI Inspire 3, heavy-lift cinema drones
  • Virtual production — LED volume panels, processors and camera tracking
  • Edit and color suites, shared storage and reference monitors
  • Grip trucks, production vans and used packages from a dealer or rental house

Why lease it

01

Own what you rent every week

A camera or lighting package that goes out on most jobs is paid for many times over in rental fees. A lease with a fixed monthly payment over three to five years is set against the kit fee you already bill the client, and at the end of the term the package is yours.

02

The whole package on one agreement

Bodies, lenses, lighting, support, monitoring, audio and cases come from several dealers. They can be financed together, on one quote or several, so the package is one application and one payment instead of a credit card balance and a stack of invoices.

03

Keep cash for the next production, deduct in year one

Productions are paid in stages and crews are paid every week, so cash is the scarce thing. Financing leaves it in the business. Cameras, lenses, lighting and post equipment are Section 179 property. Buy on a $1 buyout lease or an equipment finance agreement and it can be expensed in the year it goes into service, subject to your own tax position and your CPA's advice.

Questions producers ask before financing production equipment

What film and video production equipment can be financed?

Production equipment financing from American Capital Group covers cinema cameras, cine lens sets, LED lighting, grip and support, gimbals, wireless video and monitoring, location audio, drones, LED volume walls, edit and color suites and grip trucks, new or used, for production companies, owner-operators, rental houses, studios, churches and corporate video teams.

Can I finance a full camera package from more than one dealer?

Yes. A package is rarely bought in one place. Send each dealer's quote through the form on this page and we put them on one agreement, pay each dealer directly once it is signed, and return real numbers, usually the same business day.

Can I finance used cinema cameras and lenses?

Yes. Used cameras, lenses and lighting from a dealer, a rental house or another owner qualify, subject to age and condition. Cine lenses hold their value for many years, so a used lens set is a common thing to finance. New and used equipment can be combined on one agreement.

Can a freelancer or a new production company get equipment financing?

Yes. An owner-operator or a new production company can finance equipment against personal credit, credits and industry experience. We fund new companies regularly, and smaller packages are approved on an application alone, with no financial statements required.
