BULLDOZERS & DOZERS

Bulldozer and crawler dozer financing and leasing

A dozer is the machine that opens a site, and the contract that needs it rarely waits for the cash to be there. Whether it is a small-frame D3 for a residential pad or a D8 pushing a haul road, financing the machine against the work it is about to do is how most grading contractors put iron on the job.

What we finance

New or used, from any vendor, dealer or auction. Named manufacturers are examples of what this covers, not a limit — if what you need is not on this list, ask.

  • Caterpillar D3, D4, D5, D6 and D8 next-generation dozers
  • John Deere 650, 750, 850, 950 and 1050 P-Tier and SmartGrade dozers
  • Komatsu D39, D51, D61, D65, D85 and D155 dozers with intelligent Machine Control
  • Case 650M to 2050M and Liebherr PR crawler dozers
  • LGP low-ground-pressure and wide-track configurations for soft ground
  • Factory and aftermarket 3D grade control — Trimble, Topcon, Leica
  • Rippers, winches, brush rakes and blade options
  • Used and low-hour dozers from dealers and auctions
  • Dozers, excavators and compactors on one fleet agreement
  • Lowboy trailers and tractors to move the dozer
  • Telematics, extended warranties and service agreements
  • Fleet refresh: trade the old machine and finance the new one

Why lease it

01

Put the machine on the job this week

A dozer approved on the application and paid to the dealer on delivery is a dozer on the site before the grading schedule slips. Bank equipment loans take weeks; a lease built for contractors takes a day or two.

02

Match the term to the machine's life

A dozer earns for ten thousand hours or more. A five to seven year $1 buyout lease or an equipment finance agreement spreads the purchase over the years the machine is on payroll, and the hourly rate it bills covers the payment with room to spare.

03

Deduct the dozer the year it starts work

Construction equipment is Section 179 property. Buy on a $1 buyout structure and the whole machine, grade control included, can be expensed in the year it goes into service, subject to your own tax position and your CPA's advice.

Questions contractors ask before financing a dozer

Can I finance a bulldozer for a grading or excavation contractor?

Yes. Bulldozer financing from American Capital Group covers new and used Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Case and Liebherr dozers, with grade control, rippers and the trailer that moves them, for grading, excavation, site development, land clearing, forestry and agricultural contractors. Most machines are approved on an application alone, with no financial statements up to $150,000, and larger dozers are quoted on a short financial package.

How much does it cost to lease a dozer?

The payment depends on the machine, its hours, the term and the end of term option you choose. A used small-frame dozer on a three year lease is a very different agreement from a new D6 with 3D grade control on seven years, so send the dealer's quote through the form on this page and we return real numbers, usually the same business day.

Can I finance a used dozer from an auction or a private seller?

Yes. Used dozers from a dealer, an auction house or a private seller qualify, subject to age, hours and condition. A well maintained Cat or Komatsu with a rebuilt undercarriage is often the smart buy for a contractor adding capacity. We pay the seller directly once the machine is inspected and the agreement is signed.

Can a new contractor get dozer financing without years in business?

Yes. An operator starting a grading company can finance the first dozer against personal credit, operating experience and the contracts lined up. We fund start-up contractors regularly, and the first payment can be set after the machine is delivered and on the job.
