CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE
Cloud computing financing and private cloud leasing
Public cloud is rented by the hour and the bill grows with every workload. A private or hybrid cloud is bought once: hyperconverged nodes, storage, switching and the software that runs them, installed in your own rack or a colocation cage. Financing turns that purchase into a fixed monthly payment you can set against the cloud bill it replaces.
What we finance
New or used, from any vendor, dealer or auction. Named manufacturers are examples of what this covers, not a limit — if what you need is not on this list, ask.
- Hyperconverged infrastructure — Nutanix NX, Dell VxRail, HPE SimpliVity, Lenovo ThinkAgile
- Private cloud stacks — Microsoft Azure Local, VMware Cloud Foundation, Red Hat OpenShift, Proxmox
- GPU servers for AI training and inference — Dell PowerEdge XE, Supermicro, HPE ProLiant with NVIDIA
- Rack and blade servers — Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant, Cisco UCS, Lenovo ThinkSystem
- All-flash and hybrid storage — Pure Storage FlashArray, NetApp AFF, Dell PowerStore, HPE Alletra
- Backup and disaster recovery appliances — Veeam, Rubrik, Cohesity, ExaGrid
- Data center switching and firewalls — Arista, Cisco Nexus, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks
- Racks, UPS, power distribution and in-row cooling — APC, Vertiv, Eaton
- Hypervisor, operating system and database licences paid up front
- Multi-year software and support subscriptions rolled into the payment
- Migration, installation and implementation services from your integrator
- Used and refurbished servers and storage from a reseller
Why lease it
01
A fixed payment in place of a metered bill
Steady workloads such as databases, file storage and virtual desktops cost the same to run every month, and those are the ones businesses move back onto their own hardware. A lease over three to five years fixes the cost of that capacity, so the budget does not move with egress charges or a price change from the provider.
02
Hardware, licences and labor on one agreement
Half the cost of a private cloud is not hardware. Hypervisor and database licences, multi-year support contracts and the integrator's migration work can go on the same agreement as the nodes and the storage, so the whole project is one application and one payment.
03
Refresh on a schedule, deduct in year one
Servers and storage are worth replacing every four or five years, and a lease term can be set to end when the refresh is due. Servers, storage, networking gear and off-the-shelf software are Section 179 property. Buy on a $1 buyout lease or an equipment finance agreement and it can be expensed in the year it goes into service, subject to your own tax position and your CPA's advice.

Questions IT teams ask before financing cloud infrastructure
Can you finance cloud computing?
Yes. Cloud computing financing from American Capital Group covers the equipment and one-time costs of a private or hybrid cloud: hyperconverged nodes, GPU and rack servers, storage arrays, backup appliances, switching, racks and power, plus the software licences, support contracts and migration services bought with them. Monthly usage billed by a public cloud provider is an operating expense and is not something a lease can cover.
Can software licences and migration services be financed with the hardware?
Yes. Hypervisor, operating system and database licences, multi-year support and subscription terms paid in advance, and installation or migration labor from your reseller or integrator can be included on the same agreement as the hardware. Send the full quote through the form on this page and we return real numbers, usually the same business day.
Is it cheaper to lease private cloud hardware than to stay in public cloud?
It depends on the workload. Capacity that runs all day at a steady level usually costs less on owned or leased hardware, while short-lived or sharply seasonal workloads are often better left in public cloud. A lease gives you a fixed monthly figure for the hardware, licences and support that you can put next to your current cloud bill before you decide.
Can we finance equipment that will sit in a colocation data center?
Yes. Equipment installed in a colocation facility, at a managed hosting provider or in your own server room qualifies. We need the address where the equipment is installed, and we pay the reseller or manufacturer directly once the agreement is signed. Managed service providers and hosting companies can finance the infrastructure they build services on in the same way.
