MRI SCANNERS

MRI machine financing and leasing

An MRI is the largest single purchase most imaging centers ever make, and the magnet is only part of it — the shielded room, the chiller, the quench pipe, the rigging and the service contract are the rest. We finance new, refurbished and mobile MRI as a whole project, from any manufacturer or dealer, so the scanner and everything that makes it work sit on one lease.

What we finance

New or used, from any vendor, dealer or auction. Named manufacturers are examples of what this covers, not a limit — if what you need is not on this list, ask.

  • 1.5T wide-bore scanners — Siemens MAGNETOM Sola and Altea, GE SIGNA Voyager, Philips Ingenia Ambition X
  • 3T systems — Siemens Vida and Lumina, GE SIGNA Premier, Philips Elition X, Canon Galan
  • Helium-free and sealed-magnet systems — Philips BlueSeal, GE Freelium
  • Extremity, open and upright MRI — Esaote O-scan, Fonar
  • Portable point-of-care MRI — Hyperfine Swoop
  • Mobile MRI trailers, coaches and modular imaging buildings
  • RF shielding, magnet rooms, chillers, quench pipes and HVAC
  • Coils, tables, MR-conditional patient monitoring and injectors
  • AI reconstruction and workflow software — AIR Recon DL, Deep Resolve, SmartSpeed
  • Rigging, crane, magnet delivery, siting, de-install and refurbished OEM systems

Why lease it

01

Finance the project, not just the magnet

The scanner is only part of the number. Shielding, the chiller, the pad, the crane and the construction can be written into the same lease so the project is one payment.

02

Refurbished systems finance the same way

A refurbished 1.5T with an OEM warranty puts a working scanner in a center for a fraction of new, and it is financed exactly the same way a new magnet is.

03

Mobile MRI while the room is built

A mobile coach keeps the schedule full during construction or a magnet replacement, and the coach lease can run alongside the fixed system it is covering for.

MRI financing by type and situation

New MRI scanners

1.5T and 3T wide-bore systems, helium-free magnets and the coils, tables and software ordered with them, from any manufacturer or dealer. We pay the vendor directly, and the site work and installation can be financed with the system rather than paid in cash before the first scan.

Refurbished and used MRI

Refurbished OEM systems with a manufacturer or dealer warranty, and used scanners bought from a center that is upgrading or closing, finance the same way as new. The de-install, transport, re-install and re-siting go on the same lease.

Mobile MRI trailers

MRI coaches and modular imaging buildings, financed new or used, as a shared service across several sites or as interim capacity while a fixed suite is built. For CT on a trailer or at the bedside, see portable and mobile CT scanner financing.

Imaging center startup or expansion

A new center, a second magnet, or a move from 1.5T to 3T. Startups are considered on the personal credit and experience of the owners. An expansion can put the new scanner and its build-out on one agreement, separate from what the center already carries.

MRI is one part of an imaging practice. We also finance nuclear medicine cameras, C-arms, portable X-ray and portable ultrasound. The full list is on the medical equipment leasing page.

What sets the payment on an MRI

Four things decide the monthly number. To see a range before you talk to anyone, use the equipment lease calculator.

The whole project cost

The scanner plus site build-out, RF and magnetic shielding, the chiller, quench pipe, HVAC, rigging and crane, installation and the service contract. Including the soft costs makes the amount larger but keeps that cash in the practice.

The term

Usually 24 to 60 months. A longer term lowers the payment. Matching it to how long you expect to run the magnet, and to the service contract, keeps you from paying on a system you have already replaced.

The end-of-term option

A fair market value lease has a lower payment and lets you return or upgrade. A $1 buyout lease or an equipment finance agreement costs more each month, and you own the scanner at the end. Your accountant should confirm the tax treatment.

The size of the transaction

Up to $150,000 is usually decided on a one-page application without financial statements. Most MRI projects are well above that, and larger transactions need the business's financial statements. Time in business and credit history count as well, and approval is not guaranteed.

Transactions start at $10,000, so an MRI coil, an injector or a software upgrade can be financed on its own. Quotes usually come back the same business day.

MRI machine financing questions

Can you finance an MRI machine?

Yes. New and refurbished 1.5T and 3T scanners, open and extremity MRI, and mobile MRI trailers can be financed from any manufacturer, dealer or private seller. We pay the vendor directly, and the shielding, siting and installation can go on the same agreement as the scanner.

What does it cost to lease an MRI machine?

The payment depends on the total project cost including shielding, installation and service, the term, the end-of-term option and the business applying. We do not publish rates. The equipment lease calculator on this site gives you a range, and a quote usually comes back the same business day.

Can you finance a refurbished or used MRI scanner?

Yes. Refurbished OEM systems and used scanners bought from a dealer, an auction or another imaging center finance the same way as new. The de-install, transport, re-install and any re-siting work can be written into the same lease as the magnet.

Does MRI financing cover shielding, site build-out and service contracts?

Yes. RF shielding, magnet room construction, the chiller, quench pipe, HVAC, rigging, installation and a service contract can be included with the scanner, so the whole project sits on one payment.

What do you need to finance an MRI over $150,000?

Up to $150,000 is usually decided on a one-page application without financial statements. Most MRI projects are larger than that, and larger transactions need the business's financial statements along with the application. Every request is reviewed on its own, so approval is not guaranteed.

Do you finance mobile MRI trailers?

Yes. Mobile MRI coaches and modular imaging buildings are financed new or used, either as a permanent shared service or as interim capacity while a fixed suite is built or a magnet is replaced.

Can a new imaging center get MRI financing?

Startups are considered. For a new imaging center we look at the personal credit and experience of the owners. Because an MRI project is usually above $150,000, the review also includes financial statements, so it takes longer than a one-page approval.

Is it better to lease or buy an MRI?

It depends on how long you expect to run the system. A fair market value lease has a lower payment and lets you return or upgrade the scanner at the end of the term. A $1 buyout lease or an equipment finance agreement costs more each month, and you own the scanner at the end. Your accountant should confirm the tax treatment.

Know what you need?

An application takes a few minutes and most decisions come back the same day. If you would rather see a payment first, the calculator gives you a range without asking for anything.
